The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
